Cookham Dean saw their six-match winning streak come to an end after a 2-0 defeat at Sandhurst Royals in the East Berkshire League Premier Division on Saturday.
The Dean had been one of the most in-form teams before the winter break, climbing out of the Premier Division relegation zone to earn mid-table respectability as well as progress in two cup competitions.
But, The Royals are making a claim for minor honours in an impressive first campaign at the top flight and a goal in each half ensured all three points would remain in Sandhurst.
Both Isaac Ababio and Owen Elliot hit the back of the net for the victorious home side.
Old Windsor closed the gap on rivals Britwell at the top of the table following an eighth successive league win, The Os victorious 9-2 over Pundit at the George Pitcher Memorial Ground.
The visitors were three goals ahead at the break thanks to a Joseph Moore double and one from James Walton. Sean Blandford became the chief destroyer in the second half with a hat-trick. Walton added another to his personal tally for the campaign, while both Liam Spires and Jonathan Phiri came off the substitutes bench to hit the back of the net.
The victory means the defending champions are now four points behind the set pace, with two games in hand on the current league leaders.
Britwell were due to host Langley Reserves but the match was postponed because of a frozen pitch at The Chicken Ranch last weekend.
Both Tanatswa Matambanadzo and substitute Nathan Hodge found a route to goal for Pundit, but their team is now on a five-game losing streak in the Premier Division and above the relegation positions by a single point only.
Old Windsor Reserves began the New Year by completing a hat-trick of league wins with an 8-2 success against Eton Wick at the Recreation Ground.
Connor Clemens was the star on show with an impressive four-goal haul, scoring twice in each half of the match. Daniel Nicolaev bagged a brace in the first period and Mark Walker added a fifth goal for the home side in the opening 45 minutes. Ollie Ellis came off the substitutes bench to round off the scoring.
The win means that Old Windsor have moved up one place to third position in the table and now seven points behind Division One leaders, Caversham United, who were not in action last weekend.
Eton Wick have suffered consecutive league defeats for the first time since September and remain in eighth position in the standings. Orren Oliver and Oliver Brotherston hit the back of the net in their losing effort.
In the only other match to beat the freezing temperatures last weekend, Prospect beat Real Saracens 6-2 at the George Pitcher Memorial Ground in Burnham.
Bother Dawid Jarzebowski and Oskar Jaroslaw Sieg scored twice in the victory, with further goals from Haroub Kiswanya and substitute Kwame Mensah.
Prospect clearly like travelling away from Reading having won in their last five away matches in Division One, moving up to fourth position in the table and outside of the promotion places on goals difference only.
Real Saracens maintain mid-table respectability despite now being winless in each of their last three league games. Their goals came from Zain Asad and Thomas Randall.
