Langley F.C. Reserves did the football club proud when winning in the first Showcase Match of the season at the Arbour Park Stadium in Slough on Saturday night.
The Merrymakers beat old rivals Chalvey Sports 4-1 to record a fourth win in six matches in the East Berkshire League Premier Division and climb up to third position in the table.
Tai Maddox bagged a brace in the success, with further goals from Ross McGarvie and Chance Meyer-White. Chalvey were level at the half-time interval thanks to a Alfie O’Connor penalty kick.
The Showcase Match was watched by more than 125 spectators inside the heart of Slough, with the second game in the series set to be contested by Sandhurst F.C Royals and A.F.C Reading on Friday 31st January 2025.

Britwell will be in the lead in the race for the Premier Division title at the Winter Break after stretching their winning streak to nine matches with a 4-0 victory over second-bottom KS Gryf.
Bryan Robert Taylor hit the back of the net twice, with both Jack Alder and Sean Robinson also finding a route to goal in the success at The Polish Association.
Cookham Dean have been in red-hot form this autumn and made it five wins on the spin in the league with a 3-1 success against Pundit at the Alfred Major Recreation Ground.
Dylan Ives scored a goal in both halves for The Dean, and substitute Craig Rees ensured all three points with a third goal on the hour mark.
The purple patch has seen Cookham rise from the bottom of the table to seventh place and only outside of the top half on goals difference alone. Pundit are now on a four-game losing streak in the league and stand in ninth spot, just a single point outside of the relegation zone.
Caversham United have been in a dual with F.C. Bracknell for top spot in Division One in recent weeks, and the Billygoats reclaimed that position with a 5-1 victory over Barton Rovers on Saturday.
Liam Lukeman bagged a brace in the first half for the visitors to Theale Green School, with added goals in the second period from Jack Tapscott, Daniel Amponsah and Kian Abery.
Old Windsor Reserves remain fourth in the table following their 8-0 success at bottom side HKRG United. Mark Walker was at the double for The Os with further goals from Oliver Murray, Ollie Ellis, Michael Hall, Daniel Pilcher, Carl Elcombe and player-manager, Trent Wareham.
Prospect F.C and Bracknell Aces are two sides looking to climb into the race for promotion and it was the former that took all three points from Ringmead thanks to a 5-1 victory - all six goals coming in the first half of the contest.
Both player-manager Dawid Jarzebowski and Kacper Sek scored twice for Prospect, with Liam Aldridge also finding a route to goal. Bracknell were on the scoresheet through Tommy Rymell-Board.
The win means that Prospect remain in the top half of the table and six points behind the pace set by the top four, whilst Bracknell stay in eighth position but not nine points off the promotion positions.
