Slough Heating Laurencians Reserves gave themselves a huge boost in the race for the East Berkshire League Division One title after a 3-2 win against F.C. Bracknell on Saturday.

Bracknell had been thriving in a 14-match winning streak and could have put one hand on the crown with a victory at Slough Polish Club.

Slough Heating are on fire themselves and the pressure was on knowing that anything but maximum points could end their chances of winning the championship.

And, it was the home side that kept the race alive thanks to goals from Steffen Bennett, Ellis Drummond and Joshua Kurton. Their task was made a little bit harder when Craig Kelly was shown a straight red card, but The Lauries held on to secure three crucial points.

Bracknell left Slough empty-handed, but both Zubin Khaliq and substitute Tommy Remmell-Board did manage to hit the back of the net.

The result means F.C. Bracknell’s lead at the top of the Division One table has been cut to six points and Slough Heating will go level on points if they can be victorious in their two games in hand. Bracknell do have the advantage of a 16-goal swing in better goals difference.

Caversham United regained some momentum in the race for promotion with a 3-1 victory over Hype Train: ending their four-match losing streak in the league and inflicting a first loss on their rivals in six games.

The Billygoats took a narrow lead into the break thanks to Leon Mannion finding a route to goal, but it was not until the last 10 minutes that the points were made safe. Both Cameron Clark and Christopher Emmett coming off the substitutes bench to score important goals.

A goal from substitute Mitchell Saunders with 10 minutes still to play gave Hype Train some hope of getting back into the contest, but it was The Train that come off the rails slightly.

There is now just a single point separating Caversham in third place and Hype Train in fifth, but the Reading-based side as well as fourth-in-the-table Old Windsor Reserves have played three fewer games in the race to secure a promotion spot.

After suffering defeat at the hands of title-chasing F.C. Bracknell and Slough Heating Laurencians Reserves, Prospect F.C got their campaign back on track with a 3-1 success at Eton Wick.

The visitors to Haywards Mead fell behind when Jason Hurley gave Eton a lead inside a half-hour, but Kacper Sek drew Prospect level before half time.

Dawid Jarzebowski is the leading goals scorer in Division One this season, 25 goals in 17 appearances, and added two more strikes to his personal tally in the second period to ensure Prospect left with all three points.

The win means Prospect strengthen upon sixth place in the standings and only three points outside the promotion positions: Eton Wick maintain their mid-table respectability in seventh spot.

Taplow United Swans continue to show signs of improvement as we head into Spring after a 2-2 draw with Bracknell Aces at Ringmead.

Both Matt Dawson and William Morrison struck for The Swans, with Ciaran McNamara and Harvey Webber striking for The Aces.
