Singh Sabha out to put down a marker in 'title-decider' against rivals Britwell

Singh Sabha manager Zufran Asghar insists his side are looking to put down a marker in a ‘title-deciding’ Showcase Match against Britwell at Burnham on Friday night (7.30pm).

The defending Premier Division champions are eager to retain their crown this season and closed the gap on current leaders Britwell to three points with some scintillating performances in February, which saw them win the Team of the Month prize.

Britwell, chasing their maiden Premier Division title are unlikely to go down without a fight, and won the reverse fixture earlier in the season, 3-1.

Asghar revealed the mouth-watering clash has a ‘showcase’ feel to it with the victors likely to have the upper hand in the final third of the campaign.

He said: “We’re very much looking forward to our game on Friday. It’s definitely got the ‘showcase’ feel to it. I’m really glad and appreciate what the League has done to make this game happen.

“I’m sure it will be a great spectacle for everyone that’s going to watch, and for the League to showcase probably the two best teams.

“It’s definitely going to be a defining game, title-deciding.

“There is, obviously, still going to be five games to go after this, and there are some teams that still have games in hand but, the winner of this will definitely be at the forefront for the remaining matches. They’ll definitely have the upper hand and it’ll be in their hands to whether they can win the league. They’ll definitely be the favourites, whoever wins this match.

“For the loser, it will probably be over but, you just don’t know because there’s a lot of good teams in this League. I’m sure that in the remaining games they’ll be some teams out there that can put more twists and turns into the title race.

“I believe that the winners will definitely be the favourites to win the league and the losers will have to hope for other results, I guess.”

“We’re going into this game looking to win and definitely put a marker down. We’ve got the quality to do it, wether it happens on the night is down to the players. We will prepare ourselves to win this game and hold onto our title.

“Currently, the race has been an interesting season. Britwell beat us at the beginning in the League and then we managed to beat them in the [Slough Town] Cup. Both were tight games and had drama and, I’m sure come Friday it will be the same.

“I’m really looking forward to it and it will be a good spectacle for the League again and for both Clubs. May the best team win on the day.”
