Sandhurst Town hungry to put things right and beat Britwell in the League Cup Semi Finals

Sandhurst Town manager Jordan Goodall insists his team is hungry to put things right in the Semi Finals of the League Cup this Saturday following consecutive recent defeats.

Town take on Premier Division champions, Britwell, tomorrow for a place in the East Berkshire League Cup Final. The Semi Finals tie is at Eton Wick F.C. with a 12.30pm kick off.

Sandhurst were beaten on penalties in the Quarter Finals in the Presidents Cup and then suffered a narrow defeat to Division One title rivals Stoke Poges in the Showcase Match two weeks ago.

And though Goodall explained his players did him proud in those matches, he knows Town will have to be at the top of their game to stand a chance of beating Britwell and reach a first-ever Cup final.

He said: “We’re very excited out our first Cup Semi Final and we want to really take on the occasion. We’ve had a very positive season, and we don’t want to fear any team.

“We understand Britwell are an exceptional side, and we know we will have to be at our best to stand a chance in this tie, but we’re keen to give it our all and cause an upset. We’re all looking forward to this tie.

“Any cup run is important to us because we want to be fighting on all fronts. The boys have loved playing football this season and want to play as many games as possible.

“The season has gone in the right direction and successfully making a cup final would be the next big step forward for us. We will approach the game like any other and make sure we leave everything on the pitch, and hopefully the result will be the one we want.”

Goodall added: “We’re coming off the back of two defeats in the Presidents Cup and Showcase Match versus Stoke Poges, but both games the boys have made me proud. It’s just been unfortunate the results haven’t gone our way.

“But, we are keen to bounce back, and we’re hungry to make things right, and especially with these huge games coming up. We want to be full of confidence and we know what job we have to do.”
