Old Windsor are the defending East Berkshire League Premier Division champions and began the defence of their title with a 6-0 win against Cookham Dean on Saturday.

The Os were a dominant force last season and won an incredible treble that included the Premier Division title, the League Cup and the Slough Town Premier Cup - the Club’s reserves team also won the Presidents Cup.

And, the first team will no doubt put up a staunch defence of their crown in this campaign, which began with an empathic victory at the Old Windsor Recreation Ground.

Chris Tierney opened the scoring inside 60 seconds but it was the only goal to be scored in the first half, before the centre back scored twice more in the second period to complete an incredible hat-trick.

Old Windsor scored three more times inside the last 15 minutes through Joseph Allen, the leading goals scorer in the Premier Division last season, as well as substitutes Matteo Giacobbe and Kaao Ka.

Frontline finished as runners-up in the title race last season and could be best placed to challenge Old Windsor again this year having got their campaign under way with a 6-0 success at E.B.F.L newcomers Langley Reserves.

AFC Reading made it two-from-two and scored six goals for the second weekend in succession after a comfortable 6-0 victory over Pundit at the George Pitcher Memorial Ground in Burnham.

The match was over as a contest at the half-time interval after Charlie Smith scored twice and Sam Ingamells added a third goal inside the first 45 minutes. Smith hit the back of the net again to complete his hat-trick just after the hour mark, with further goals inside the last seven minutes from captain, Luke Chappelle, and substitute, Ryan Lumley.

Sandhurst Royals also went two-from-two in the Premier Division after edging out league debutants, Chalvey Sports, 3-2 in an entertaining game also played at George Pitcher Memorial Ground.

Alfie O’Connor bagged a brace for Chalvey who thought a late equalising goal would have been enough to earn them a share of the spoils, but the visiting Royals scored a winner with virtually the last kick of the match to take all three points back to Sandhurst. The Royals goals scorers were Jamie Haffenden, George Wilson and substitute, Luke Wilson.

Britwell and FC Beaconsfield both returned to the E.B.F.L from the Hellenic League this season but with mixed fortunes in their first league matches on Saturday. Britwell had to recover from falling behind to beat KS Gryf 4-1 at The Chicken Ranch. Oskar Luniewski scored in the first half for KS Gryf.

FC Beaconsfield fell to a 4-2 defeat against FC Baylis United at Iver Heath Recreation Ground. Baylis opened up a clear three goals lead in the first half thanks to a Haris Farooq double and one from Kamran Khan, and Lazarus Akunekwe scored five minutes into the second period to make sure of the points. The visitors pegged back two goals when both Jarelle Baptiste and Joshua Peck hit the back of the net.

Hype Train completed a hat-trick of wins to continue to set a strong early pace at the top of Division One after a 7-3 victory against Eton Wick at Haywards Mead on Saturday.

The league leaders were rampant in the first half and scored six times without reply. Phil Newport was the destroyer-in-chief with a four-goal haul whilst Ciaran Carolan bagged himself a brace. Hype Train were in seven heaven when substitute Christian Freemantle scored two minutes into the second period.

Eton Wick did show some fighting spirit to claw back three goals inside the last 35 minutes of the match; Orren Oliver scoring twice with Ryan Blease also on target.

Slough Heating Laurencians Reserves and Old Windsor Reserves both won their opening two matches of the new season but suffered a first defeat last weekend. Slough Heating were beaten 2-0 by FC Bracknell in their first-ever home league match. The goals at Great Hollands came from Calvin Grainger and Bracken-Kenny Sharp. The visitors were reduced to 10 men when Craig Kelly was shown a red card.

Old Windsor Reserves were beaten 2-1 at the hands of Real Saracens despite a goal from Sean Blandford giving them a first-half lead at the George Pitcher Memorial Ground. Real Saracens, playing in their first match of the new season, turned things around in the second half thanks to goals from Hanza Arif Isap and substitute Hassan Zishan.

Caversham United made it two-from-two with a 5-2 victory over Bracknell Aces at Ringmead. The visitors were two goals ahead at the break with both Daniel Amponsah and Ben Hole fitting the back of the net. Caversham made it three when Conner Sturgess found a route to goal six minutes into the second period, and the points were secured when substitutes Lucas Shaffner and Christian Opoku scored inside the final 11 minutes of the game.

Having started the campaign with back-to-back defeats, Prospect registered their first three points with a 4-2 success over Taplow United Swans at Calcot Recreation Ground. There were four different goals scorers for the winning team; player-manager Dawid Jarzebowski, Emmanuel Papa Kofi Fenteng, Kacper Sek and Oskar Jaroslaw Sieg. The Swans hit the net twice through Matt Dawson and William Durant.
