THE race for the East Berkshire League Premier Division title intensified when both Old Windsor and Singh Sabha won on Saturday to close the gap on leaders Britwell. Writes Rob Stevens.

Old Windsor are determined to retain the crown and completed a hat-trick of home wins by routing Slough Heating Laurencians A 6-0. Harry Farnan scored four goals in a man-of-the-match display, with Ben Wilson and Jack Taylor also hitting the back of the net. The title chasers also gave a debut to former Virginia Water centre back Finn Evered and Windsor striker Adam Mcnamara.

The success moves Old Windsor two points behind Britwell with the two sides set to clash at the Chicken Ranch on Saturday 5 June (2pm). Singh Sabha are four points behind the table-toppers, but with a game in hand, and still to meet both teams above them this season.

The third-placed side thrashed KS Gryf 10-2 with both Usman Javid and Hasan Mahmoud scored a hat-trick in the victory. Other goals came from Dillon Bains, Pritpal Raju, Conrad Joseph and Sukh Sanghera.

EBFL Division Two:

With Division Two leaders AFC Cressex not in action last weekend, Barton Rovers took the opportunity to cut their lead to seven points with a 4-0 success at Eton Wick. Barton have three games in hand on the leaders and a big two weeks ahead with third-placed Pundit making the trip to West Berkshire this Saturday (2pm) and the table toppers on Saturday 5 June (2pm).

The match was Eton Wick’s second on the same day, such is the tight schedule to the end of the season, with the Wick earlier beating AFC Winkfield Reserves 4-0 at home.

Pundit made it four successive wins when brushing aside FC Baylis United 5-1 at George Pitcher Memorial Ground. The promotion-chasers have scored an impressive 20 goals in the purple patch, conceding just three.

Stoke Poges Saints Reserves recovered from falling two goals behind to beat Chalvey Sports A 3-2 and move back into fifth place.

EBFL Development Division:

The final match in the inaugural Development Division season took place last weekend with third-placed Wokingham & Emmbrook beating bottom side Pinewood Under 23s Panthers 9-1.
