Britwell manager John Brennan has called on his team not to get complacent and show respect to Frontline in their top-of-the-table clash at the Chicken Ranch this Saturday (2pm ko).
The two teams have opened up a five points lead on the chasing pack in the East Berkshire League Premier Division, both winning their last three league matches.
Britwell, the defending champions, will be looking to back up their 3-0 win at Frontline on the opening weekend to the season, and have been resurgent after a couple of surprise defeats.
Brennan however, is aware that the Steamteam has conceded leads in the title race in previous seasons, and he expects Frontline to be an improved team in comparison to the side that lost back in September.
He said: “The season has gone relatively well up until this point other than a couple of blemishes on our record, one against Chalvey Sports Reserves in the league and one against Hamleden in the Slough Town Cup.
“The latter was a bitter bill to swallow as the competition was one we targeted as a priority but, on the plus side it was the kick up the bum that we needed. It has been the catalyst to form this new philosophy and mindset that we have had recently, and that is evident in results.
“But, more so, that we are not leaking goals, which is not a characteristic you would associate with The Steamteam. We always seem to ship in a goal but we can also score goals, so keeping clean sheets is a nice change and a nice surprise.
“It goes down to the way we approach games and the way we that look after each other because evidently we seem to beat ourselves. I can’t really say that a team beats us.”

Brennan continued: “Frontline are in good form, they’ve had a good couple of weeks and are doing well. They are a solid side with a strong squad.
“I can imagine them having some additions from Singh Sabha, now that Aldermaston has popped. We will have the best Frontline available and we will treat them with that respect in our build up.”
He added: “I’m not going to put any emphasis on us getting a result because, like in previous years, we’ve been top of the pack and been reigned in with some silly results.
“So we’re not going to get complacent and treat every game like the last, and the next one. We will give teams the respect that they deserve and prepare diligently.
“We were not threadbare by any means last weekend, we had five substitutes, but we have some important boys to come back in this Saturday and that is testament to our squad.”
